I’ve shot a few weddings in Hyvinkää before, like a long, long time ago when I was only starting to figure out how to take pictures, and the results were.. well, not great to be honest, but we all got to start from somewhere.
Year and a half ago I got the opportunity to capture memories for a sweet couple at Kytäjän Kartano, Hyvinkää. I can’t thank them enough for considering me to capture their important day. It really makes me humble every time when I get the gig.
Kytäjän Kartano has a haunting and disturbing history of having a real ghost house. I’m not going to go into the details and you can definitely find more about it than I can tell you. Let’s say I definitely tried to look at the windows and see if anyone is staring back at me.
Lucky me, no one or not a thing did. Nothing ever happens in broad daylight, right?
Despite the disturbing history the abandoned houses do make a great background and sure being in the countryside there are less accommodation around, some horse stables, some fields and a big lake, so it’s quite scenic in that way.
First time for smoke bombs too. Some do color the fabric just a tiny bit, so beware fellow photographers, if you are trying them first time. We had maybe a dozen to play with and the results are very cool. I would definitely use them again. Always make sure you don’t set anything on fire as this things get quite hot and could possibly ignite dry grass or anything similar.
Land owner gave us a permission to use smoke bombs and you need to ask for that as well as permission to enter the abandoned house’s private property!
I had a major surgery little over a month ago so I needed a backup I can rely on as I was still slowly recovering.
This wedding was photographed with Johanna Best Photography. Thank you for helping me out! Bride getting ready is captured by her and also part of the pictures.
